I had mixed feelings when Ethel approached me to be her photographer on her birthday party. I was so so so happy that someone out there appreciate my works and what's more trusting me to take good photographs of her 21st birthday. I hesitated. I do not want to screw up an important life event like this and make her end up with lousy photos. Even after accepting her offer, I have thoughts of backing out. I lacked confidence. This was a huge stepping stone for me and I'm glad I took that first step. Initially I was a bit awkward among them during the preparations. I do not know when to start taking photos or how do I approach them for photos. So I hang around there till I got bored. Then I picked up my camera and started taking candid shots and bam. Everything goes pretty smooth afterwards. Her boyfriend, friends and family members are really nice! We had so much laughter while taking photos. That's the reason why I can be so comfortable with a group of strangers. I was observing Ethel throughout the night. Not that I'm being creepy but my eyes need to follow her so I can capture moments right? She's such a nice girl, to everyone. Especially when she took extra care of her grandmother, it touched me a little :)
